We’re working with a major operator in the energy sector who is looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Technician to support the maintenance and operation of oil & gas production facilities across multiple sites.
This is a technically varied role offering exposure to rotating equipment, compressors, turbines and critical plant systems - ideal for someone who wants stability, responsibility and long-term career growth.

Call outs are paid at 5 hours base rate plus minimum of 5 hours at x 1.5 base rate (Monday to Friday) or x 2.0 base rate for weekends and Bank Holidays.
25 days holiday allowance, 10% Company pension contribution, group life assurance 8 x salary, group income protection, Gym Allowance £600/year
Key responsibilities for the Mechanical Technician include,

  • Carrying out routine and non-routine mechanical maintenance and repairs
  • Servicing pumps, valves, motors, air compressors, gas compressors and turbines
  • Supporting vendor maintenance and assisting with specialist servicing
  • Monitoring and maintaining pipeline corrosion systems
  • Performing equipment isolations to enable safe maintenance
  • Assisting with the installation and commissioning of new plant
  • Responding to breakdowns and providing out-of-hours support when required
  • Supervising contractors and ensuring all work meets safety and permit requirements
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and hazard-free working environment

The ideal Mechanical Technician will need the following,

  • A mechanical apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)
  • 4–5 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance within industrial, energy or process environments
  • Knowledge of oil & gas or similar heavy process industries
  • Experience working on compressors, rotating equipment, valves and plant systems ATEX and PUWER knowledge (highly advantageous)
  • The ability to work independently, take ownership and make safe decisions under pressure
  • Flexibility to cover call-outs including some weekend, evening or bank holiday work
  • Full UK driving licence and own vehicle essential
